Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I am of the firm opinion that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the best TV show available. There are looots of reasons why, but here are some that Sophie and I came up with.

- Epic, three-dimensional female characters. Skye. Bobbi. May. Simmons. Reyna. I love the depth of each and every woman on this show. I never feel like the girls are weak or unrealistic or forced. They're all flawed, and unique, and fun, and interesting, and likable. Even Reyna.
- The cast. First of all, they're all perfect for their roles. Second of all, they're great (I mean, as far as I know) in real life. If you want proof, please look up the Agent Carter vs. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. dubsmash battle. It is glorious. (Speaking of Agent Carter, holy smokes is that show stunning. Please watch that as well.)

Simmons and I have the same feelings about Peggy Carter.

- Wit. This show is so clever and funny. Plus I always appreciate the Harry Potter and Doctor Who references.
- Beautiful combat scenes. So. Good.
- Humor. This goes back to wit, but seriously this show is hilarious.

This was classic.

- Amazing writing. Such good plots. And wonderful dialogue.
- Superpowers. I'm a sucker for superheroes.
- Drama. This too.
- Attractive men by the dozen. Goodness me. Ward. Lincoln. Tripp. Mack. Hunter. Seriously, where do they find these men. That being said, I also completely appreciate their characters and personalities. Hunter is so funny, Mack is wise, Fitz is basically perfection, Coulson is human, Ward is... Well. Ward is something else. I really don't think there's a character on this show I truly dislike. Whitehall. Whitehall is horrible.

Seriously. That jawline.

- Romantic subplots that are stunning but not overpowering. One word: FitzSimmons.
- Plots that remain engaging, surprising, and epic after three years. I have watched this show for almost three years and I still love it. I haven't gotten sick of it, which does happen with some shows sometime in the third or fourth season. The plots always feel new and fresh, but they make sense (well, within the universe of the show). I can distinctly remember episodes that shocked me to my core and kept me up thinking about them and made me scream because WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THAT COMING.
- Cool tech.

- FitzSimmons. Fitz and Simmons. Simmons and Fitz. FiTzSiMmOnS.
- Real-life application:
-- the very best people are flawed and make mistakes (Coulson, May, pretty much every character on the show)
-- just because someone is on the "wrong" side doesn't mean they're evil
           -- tragedy doesn't justify brutality
-- the entire Inhuman arc speaks for itself
- The dynamics between characters.

- So much depth. Backstories, overarching plots, subtle actions and dialogue that aren't important for a year or more. I love shows that do that. Love. It.
- Moral complexity. Seriously, I love shows/books/etc. that deal with war and humanity and what is right and wrong. Complex situations that force you to think fascinate me.
- It is, at its core, a spy show. And who doesn't love a spy show?

- The character development. The difference between characters in season one and season three is mind-blowing and it's beautiful.
- How it goes with the MCU. References to Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff? Plots that match up to the events of CATWS? Lady Sif showing up? Yes, please.

So basically, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is one of the most underrated shows ever. It's completely amazing and you should go watch it. You will be a better person for it. That's a scientific fact, I'm sure.

Books and Talking and Twitter

Hi.
I am in a talkative mood tonight, apparently. I already sent a rather long email less than an hour ago, and another one this morning, and I journaled (which is a pathetically rare exercise for me, really) and I've Tweeted and texted quite a bit. Plus an article, which needs a ton of editing and it's due in two days and I'm kinda freaking out. :/
Anyway.
Lots of happy music playing today. Well, not necessarily happy, but music I know really well, I guess. My playlists of Spotify, instead of other peoples. A lot of Parachute, Bastille, and Relient K.
Started Into the Wild today. I'm in like, chapter two, and I am intrigued. I think it's gonna be really good. A side effect is severe wanderlust, but I always have that, so...
I have been thinking about Paper Towns a LOT lately. Those John Green books seriously get to me. It also has heightened my wanderlust, and also made me more aware of people. The Fault in Our Stars got to me because I related to it, because it got me. Paper Towns got to me because it made me think of others. I wouldn't say I liked it better than TFiOS, but I would recommend it more often than I would TFiOS. Because it's less popular, and more eye-opening, at least for me, and TFiOS... well, I think people miss the point of TFiOS. Which is a rant for another time.
^THIS PART HIT ME IN THE FACE AND IT WAS WONDERFUL.

This quote is so crazy true.

In other news, apparently I am some people's favorite Tweeter, which is one of the weirdest compliments I've ever gotten, but also one of the best. Why is this seemingly shallow comment one of the best I have received? Because it means people are relating to my words, even if there's only 144 characters of them. And that makes me happy.
I can't stop eating grapes, y'all. I don't know what's up with that.
Also, I REALLY WANT KRISPY KREME DONUTS LIKE RIGHT NOW.
Driving... yeah, I still hate it. >_< It's really hard being an adventurous person who hates driving. I've been able to get into the groove and enjoy it a couple times, but then I mess something up, just something small, and my confidence smashes into the ground and I get unfocused and doubt my instincts and it's a mess.
So, yeah, That's fun. -_-
I am really tired right now, so I am gonna crash (and by that I mean read and/or watch Once Upon A Time).
Farewell.

Addi's Current Favs

Counting Stars, by One Republic.
I listen to this song all the time. Not exactly sure why. But, ooh, I love it. The whole Native album, actually. Like, listen to the part at like 3:03 where there's the stacking, add on, choir-y thing. Mmmm, wonderful.

The Library Dance scene in Music Man. It has literally been my life dream to be in this song (Marian the Librarian) and now I am and Thank you a bajillion times to Stevie of Dr. L or whoever put me in that group.
FROZEN.
OBSESSED. FAVORITE MOVIE.
Anna = Most realistic Disney Princess since... ever. EVER. I love her. And Elsa is amaaaazing. And plot twists and funny scenes and THE FREAKING AWESOME SOUNDTRACK. I would conservatively estimate I have listened to this soundtrack 50 million times since I watched the movie.
Love Is An Open Door is my favorite. xD Barely beating Let It Go.

Addi's Current Favs

I am a dork. I love posting these. xD
VERY true
Pinterest.
Technically, I do not have an account, which requires Facebook, which I'm not allowed to get. But I follow my friend's boards and, OMC, I want one so bad. :P The problem is I would get sooo addicted. :P

Legolas = Epic

Archery.
I love it. Dad, Mac and I take a class on Tuesdays, and it is a ton of fun. It's pretty epic feeling. ^_^

Wednesdays.
At school, we have "block days" on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It basically means we have only four classes instead of eight. Sounds tedious, but I love it. Wednesdays I have my fun classes, Bible, English, Intro to Theater and Spanish, plus chapel. My school's chapel is AMAZING.
I loved today's especially. We sang this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uumI-PdeZzY (Beautiful Things by Gungor)
There was a harp, mandolin, and violin, as well as guitar, drums, voices, keyboard, etc. It was beautiful. The speaker's message linked back to as well, which was awesome.
He talked about whatever pain or struggle we might be going through, it's just part of the process of God making us something perfect for His glory. He's making us beautiful.
I just want to leave y'all with that. :)

Addi's current favs... :D

Lord of the Rings
Holly and I are like twins a lot of the time. We know each other ridiculously well, and have pretty much the same interests. (Well, her's are more athletic, mine are more nerdy or creative ;) But we are both obsessed with Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. OBSESSED. Holly more so, almost. I've seen the three LOTR movies, and read the Fellowship and some of the Two Towers. Holly is obeying the sacred law of bookworms and reading the books before seeing the movies. :D I've trained her well. Our plan is for her to finish the books before the Hobbit movie is released, and go to the midnight premiere in Imax with some friends, and go right into a Lord of the Rings marathon. (Actually our friends thought of this, not us :P). But still, tis a brilliant plan. Mwahahaha!!!!! Now if we can just convince our parents...

Starbucks
Hehe, I seriously like frappichinos. Enough said.

Freewrite Parties!!
When I was in elementary and middle school (haha, that feels so weird. When I was in middle school), I had the best writing teacher ever. At the start of every class, she made us do freewrites for the first ten-fifteen minutes. A freewrite is when someone gives a prompt, either a sentence or a picture or theme, and you write within a time limit to do the best you can. In class, some of them were really, really, really hard. Recently, on my online school, I got connected to a girl who graduated last year. She is really nice and creative, and got a LOT of kids interested in creative writing, me included. She started freewrite parties on Skype. A whole bunch of kids get on Skype at a scheduled time, and we write for hours. The hard part is the fact that we live all over the world- Hawaii, India, Israel, China, California, Russia... it gets hard to find a time that works for everyone. :P
Here's a prompt I made up, maybe you could try one!

The dark heavy smoke filled what used to be a cool blue, and I saw the last of my old life shatter.

If you do take advantage of this, please send me what you come up with! It's really fun to see how different people interpret the prompts. One girl made it funny, I made it darker, so it can go however you want. ^_^ Feel free to try it!
And I am going to go do a bit of reading... Addi out!
